What are you using port 8080 for, is it the web caching Squid? Can we block this port?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

We have noticed recently that the WAN traffic on the RF650 box is extremely high during off office hours, say 10:00PM or 12:00AM to 2:00AM, both in and out traffic are maxed out to 1.5 T1 line.


RESPONSE:

Port 8080 is used by http proxy, if you want to disable this port, you will have to disable http proxy or remove all the proxy server settings on all your workstation browsers.
