MT9234 USB Modem Differences

The MT9234ZBA-USB and MT9234ZBA-USB-CDC products contain a TI (Texas Instruments) USB to Serial converter. The -CDC is a CDC compliant device that uses the inherent Windows and Linux CDC drivers to install only requiring the .inf and .cat for additional Microsoft support. The MT9234ZBA-USB is the non-CDC compliant version, which used specific drivers to install. Both of these products are obsolete.

The MT9234ZBA-USB-CDC-XR is our current shipping product. It is a CDC compliant modem, that uses the inherent Windows and Linux CDC drivers, just requiring a .inf and a .cat for additional Microsoft support. This product uses a XR (EXAR) USB to Serial converter.

These naming conventions also apply to our MT9234MU, MT9234MU-CDC and MT9234MU-CDC-XR products.
