I was downloading the default setup when my system hung, on reboot the 'Fail' light remains on steady and doesn't go off at all. How can I recover and continue with the configuration?

Download default setup or wizard setup:

1) Start a HyperTerminal Session to the COM Port the unit is connected to and set the session for 19200, 8, N, 1, and NO Flow-Control. Once this is accomplished - Turn OFF and ON the Router/ProxyServer and note any error messages that you receive. You might want to go to the "Transfer" tab and select the "Text Capture", this will log all activity to a file. If you do not see any activity on the terminal - You have selected the wrong Comm Port, the Router/ProxyServer is unrecoverable with this method, or there is a cabling issue of some type.

2) Assuming you see some activity - Cycle the power again and you will see a message that mentions "Press D to Download.."; Perform this operation immediately after you see the message and the Router/ProxyServer will be ready for download of code.

3) Go to the "CALL" tab on HyperTerminal and select "Disconnect". This will open the COMM Port for use by other application software.

4) Select the "Wizard Setup" or "Download default setup" icon within the Proxy Server or RASfinder group. The program should then locate the Router/ProxyServer and if it does not, the Comm port configuration does not match that used by HyperTerminal and you will need to verify that the Comm port is set correctly and repeat the proceeding steps starting at Step 2.

Download firmware update:

Going one step further, a download of firmware code can sometimes resolve this and this would extend the procedure as follows:

6) Cycle the power again and you will see a message that mentions "Press D to Download.."; Perform this operation immediately after you see the message and the Router/ProxyServer will be ready for download of code.

7) Go to the "CALL" tab on HyperTerminal and select "Disconnect".

8) Select the "Download Firmware" option within the Router / ProxyServer group.

9) Select the 'RASFM31x.BIN' or 'Proxy2xx.BIN' or 'MTASRxxx.BIN' file that shows up in the list of available programs.

Note:
If the fail light is still on - Go back to the HyperTerminal Session and "Connect". Cycle Power on the Router/ProxyServer and capture the activity to a file. Send the capture file to tsupport@multitech.com
