I have 2 MVP210s and I have configured one port on each unit for FXS to FXS. For the other port, I want to use the E&M interface to make a connection from one unit to the other unit by means of having the 'dialing' done when the M lead is asserted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The equipment that is external to the Multitech MVP210 is a basic intercom box that has no DTMF capability, just the audio pairs and the E&M (Type 2) leads. I am trying to get the voice channel "nailed up" by either using the E&M leads or just have it "nailed up" continuously. How can I program the MVP to do this without building a phonebook entry (as there is no dialing or dtmf tones).

RESPONSE:

You probably need the E&M pass-through feature enabled on our VOIPs for this application. This option allows the E&M ports to be connected all the time. Customers often use this for Hoot&Holler applications such as an intercom.

E&M Pass-Thru Setup Example:

VOIP A

Ch 1 E&M, type II, 4 wire, and dial tone. Make sure Pass Thru is enabled.
Inbound of 101 ch1.
Outbound of destination pattern 201, total digits 3, IP address of VOIP B, and H.323 protocol.
Auto Call enabled, phone number 201:1.

VOIP B

Ch 1 E&M, type II, 4 wire, and dial tone. Make sure pass thru is enabled.
Inbound of 201 ch1.
Outbound of destination pattern 101, total digits 3, IP address of voip B, and H.323 protocol.
Auto call enabled, phone number 101:1

You must attach an E&M cable to channel 1 of both VOIPs. Silence Compression should be disabled, which will give you XMT and RCV lights on channel 1 of both VOIPs.
