A Set up document for customizing the URL filter to allow or block specific sites.

How to enable and setup a URL Custom Filter in the RouteFinder version 3.1x:

CREATING A CUSTOM ALLOW LIST:

When a URL is blocked by the URL Filter database, you can setup a Custom Allow list so the LAN users can have access to the site right away without having to submit the URL to Surfcontrol for review and wait for a few days.

Here is how to configure a Custom Allow list:

1) Click on Proxy --->Custom Filters
2) Make sure the default action is ALLOW
3) Enter a name for the URL List Name and click Add
4) Click Edit for the List you added in Step 3
5) Enter the URLs you want to allow (i.e., www.multitech.com) and click Add and then click Save
6) Create an Access rule so the LAN uses the Custom Allow List with Action Allow. (i.e., LAN --- Allow List (Step 3) --- Allow)

CREATING A CUSTOM DENY LIST:

When you do NOT want the LAN users to access certain sites, you can create a custom Deny list so LAN users will not be able to access sites that are in the Deny list.

Here is how to configure a Deny list:

1) Click on Proxy --->Custom Filters
2) Make sure the default action is Allow
3) Enter a name for the URL List Name and click Add
4) Click Edit for the List you added in Step 3
5) Enter the URLs you want to Deny access (i.e., www.multitech.com) and click Add and then click Save
6) Create an Access rule so the LAN uses the Custom Deny List with Action Deny (i.e., LAN --- Deny List (Step 3) --- Deny)

HOW TO LIMIT YOUR LAN USERS ACCESS TO CERTAIN SITES AND BLOCK EVERYTHING ELSE:

1) Click on Proxy --->Custom Filters
2) Make sure the default action is DENY (this option is the one that will BLOCK everything)
(i.e., LAN --- Allow List (Step 3) ---- Allow)
