“I think these guys over here need some help.” Those were the words that led me to MultiTech 42 years ago.

The advice came from a friend and former co-worker of mine who was moving into the building adjacent to MultiTech’s new office in New Brighton. Upon hearing her comment, I naturally became very curious.

The only information she had was that there are about 20 guys, no women and what they are doing sounds kind of exciting. So, I decided to take a chance, give them a call and I’m sure glad I did.

It was at the tail end of my two-year tenure with a leasing agency, I thought this new company may be worth a look. I wanted a career, not a job, and perhaps I would find that here.

I applied to MultiTech at the old facility on University Avenue and my first thought was: “Wow, it’s a bunch of really smart looking college students.” I remember the small little basement area where acoustic couplers were built. But the work they were doing intrigued me. The year was 1978 and I accepted the offer. My career at MultiTech had officially begun.

The company has obviously grown exponentially since this time, but I remember one of the most satisfying parts of being at MultiTech from its beginnings was the ability to try different roles and diversify what you did. I was initially drawn to sales and thought that would be the role for me. Unfortunately, the 1980’s were not kind to women in sales, so I stepped away from sales and that led me to marketing.

Since then I haven’t looked back. I’ve had some great mentors along the way in my career here at MultiTech and I’ll never forget those early-day experiences attending trade shows and being part of a team where everyone worked so hard to help grow our company into the technology leader it is today.

At the core of these efforts is the quality of our products. This was always very important to Raghu and it has carried over to today. Delivering a quality product and actively listening to what our customers need, is one of the keys to our success.

In the 42 years a lot has changed but the one thing that remains is the passion shown by those within the organization that contribute to MultiTech’s success on a daily basis. We believe in each other and by working together we feel that we can achieve anything we set our minds to. It’s extremely satisfying to be a part of a “we” environment – pulling each other along to achieve the best outcome. As I look ahead, I feel that our products are well positioned in the market and our roadmap is aligned nicely with new technologies coming for IoT. We have a leadership team that has the expertise and vision for continued growth and believe the future of our company is in very good hands.

As I look back on my career, I know I’m very fortunate to be where I am today. I love what I do, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Thank you to MultiTech and everyone who’s been a part of it for the last 50 years. I’m so glad I responded to “some guys who needed help,” all those years ago.
