Resolution 443: What initialization string should I use when dialing into the Internet
You can place an initialization string in your Windows 95 / 98 dialer in the " extra settings " field in control Panel/Modems.
To get there click on Start/Settings/Control Panel. Then click on the Modems icon. You will now see a Modem Properties window. Highlight your modem and click the Properties button.
You now want to click on the Connection tab, and then click on the Advanced button. In the Advanced Connection Settings window you will see an Extra Settings filed. This is where we put initialization strings that will be sent to the modem just before it dials out.
Generally, the best string to use for calling into an ISP is : AT&FX4
Just put 'AT&FX4' in the Extra Settings field. Note: If you use any other software that uses the Win 95 / 98 dialer, this initialization string will be sent when using that software.
