Multi-Tech Global Modems
Multi-Tech global modems are a critical component to any machine-to-machine
communications solution being sold in markets around the world. Multi-Tech
global modems are certified with both telecom compliance certifications
and country regulatory agency approvals, eliminating the costly and time-
consuming process of seeking these approvals on your own. For more information
on the compliance and approval process, please refer to the
Global Modem Certifications Guide.
What is a global modem?
Simply stated, a global modem is one modem for worldwide use. Multi-Tech's global
modems are designed for global applications with approvals in many countries. This means
one SKU (stock keeping unit) can ship virtually anywhere in the world. Multi-Tech offers
these global models:
Who should buy a global modem?
A global modem is ideally suited for OEM customers, multinational corporations and
systems integrators. Customers will benefit because now they only need to manage one SKU
for worldwide use. Multi-Tech takes the guesswork out of the ordering process.
How to Configure a Global Modem?
To make configuration easy, Multi-Tech provides a Windows®-based utility called "Global Wizard",
which automatically configures the modem for country- or region-specific operation, and manuals
written in multiple languages. The Global Wizard can be found on the
Multi-Tech Installation Resources Website
. Simply choose your product, and you are taken to
the appropriate page. The Global Wizard is located under the Software tab.
If a Windows computer is not available, the modem can be configured using the
Global Modem Configuration Commands that
lists the AT commands used to configure a global modem for use within approved regions or countries.
How do I order?
Multi-Tech global modems are approved for use in many countries around the world.
However, in order to adapt them to the various countries you need to have the
appropriate power cords (for the external modem only), phone cords and in some cases telco
adapters. Multi-Tech has simplified the ordering process by creating cross-reference
ordering guides designed to help you order the correct accessories for each modem.

This model contains the MT9234ZBA modem, universal power supply, RS-232 serial cable, RJ-11 phone cable, and a U.S.-style power cord and can be used in any country that uses these type of connections. See the Localization Kit Reference Chart for a list of countries that use the LK-ZBA-US/NAM localization kit. Finally, run the Global Wizard utility to configure the modem for use in the region or country required.
-
Internal Modems (MT9234ZPX-PCIE, MT9234ZPX-PCIE-NV)
and USB Modems (MT9234ZBA-USC.CDC)
Simply order the model listed above. Each of these models ships with an RJ-11
phone cable. You will need to use the appropriate telco adapter required for the country
of destination. See the telco adapter
reference chart for ordering information.
Note: Power cords are not needed with the above models because they draw power
from the host computer.
