- Multi-Tech CEO Named 2009 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by Minneapolis Law Firm

On May 6, Patricia J. Sharma, CEO of Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., was named 2009 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by the Minneapolis law firm of Mansfield Tanick & Cohen. The award is presented each year to a woman business owner/manager who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and success in the management and operation of their business.
Multi-Tech, founded by Pat’s late husband, Dr. Raghu Sharma, is the world-wide leader in analog and cellular modem products and solutions. Since 1970, Multi-Tech Systems has established over 70 patents covering the more than 20 million devices deployed world-wide.
Pat succeeded Dr. Sharma as CEO after his death in 2007 and, according to Earl Cohen, CEO of the firm “Pat has spent the last two years, in the face of a changing economic and technology landscape, reshaping the company to meet the demands of the marketplace in the coming decades. We can think of no one more deserving of this recognition than Pat.”
Multi-Tech is certified by the WBENC as a Women’s Business Enterprise.

Fax-to-email server delivers increased production and quick ROI
Multi-Tech Systems announces the next generation of its FaxFinder® V.34 fax server, enhanced to provide increased production and cost savings. Converting faxes to PDF or TIFF files to deliver via email is this fax product’s core function, eliminating the need for paper, toner, and even a fax machine. The higher level functionality of the new FaxFinder allows companies to use existing email software or a Web form to securely send, archive or automatically print faxes. Corporate offices can easily transmit faxes, over a WAN, to remote offices and field sales people. Administrators can view the
status and history of faxes.

- Multi-Tech Receives 2009 M2M Magazine Value Chain Award

M2M Magazine presented Multi-Tech® Systems a Value Chain Award at the fifth annual M2M Connected World Awards Gala on June 11, 2009 in Chicago. The Value Chain Awards recognize the most successful adopters of M2M (machine-to-machine) technology and the teams of solution providers that made their successes possible. Multi-Tech’s team, which includes Eastside Management, KORE Telematics, and PureSense, received the award for a solution in agriculture.
“The recipients of the 2009 Value Chain Awards have truly found a way to implement machine-to-machine technology to its fullest potential, using all parts of the value chain to achieve their goals,” said Mike Carrozzo, chief editor, M2M magazine.
The winners of the Value Chain Awards are determined by an independent panel of industry analysts and experts. Entries are judged on the overall strength of the deployment, especially the level of innovation and the business value obtained.

- Multi-Tech Systems Announces New Distribution Partner in India

One Network is now an official Multi-Tech Systems distributor. The partnership was launched at Convergence India, the country’s largest telecom and electronic tradeshow held in mid-March. One Netw

ork showcased Multi-Tech device networking and unified communications products, which attracted a great deal of attention from IT and telecom government officials, as well as large Indian corporations. One Network was carefully selected for distributing Multi-Tech products because it provides comprehensive IT support services, resources and solutions to organizations.
The partnership aims to enhance Multi-Tech System’s presence in India, which is experiencing exponential growth in IT and data communications. “Cellular subscriber numbers in India have increased 1000% over the past 2.5 years, with 10 million new users every month,” said Matt Sharma, Multi-Tech Systems Executive Vice President. “India is investing heavily in its infrastructure and the massive growth in cellular provides the perfect foundation for Multi-Tech’s M2M strategy.”
One Network is headquartered in Mumbai and has five satellite offices throughout India. Sanjay Makhija, Chairman of One Network, has been selling Multi-Tech products in India since 1988.

Award-winning cellular gateway product makes the whole world a local call
Multi-Tech Systems’ new SIP-to-cellular gateway makes the whole world a local call. By adding the capability to route voice calls between cellular GSM and SIP-based Voice over IP networks, organizations realize substantial savings on a worldwide basis for long distance calls. As an additional benefit, the MultiVOIP GSM also provides a backup connection to remote VoIP sites in case of external Internet failure.
Multi-Tech’s MultiVOIP GSM SIP-to-cellular gateway maximizes an organization’s investment in current telephony equipment and infrastructure. The new gateway, Model MVPGSM-2, comes with two ports for communicating over a SIP-to-cellular connection, and Ethernet interface for connecting to an IP network. The MultiVOIP GSM is now shipping.

The Multi-Tech MultiVOIP GSM received the 2008 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award from Internet Telephony Magazine for outstanding achievement in VoIP/IP communications.

- Multi-Tech Announces M2M Cellular IP Modem
MultiModem® iCell, the Answer to Remote Monitoring and Reporting for Mission Critical Applications
Multi-Tech is now shipping its new MultiModem® iCell intelligent wireless modems designed for mission-critical M2M remote monitoring and control applications. The external modem features Multi-Tech’s Universal IP stack (UIP) and a five-port GPIO (General Purpose Input Output) interface providing remote signal monitoring for a wide range of control systems. The applications programming interface (API) for the IP stack means designers need only program IP functionality once for multiple applications and the GPIO interface enables the modem to capture and analyze data from remote sensors such as tank levels, cargo door access and temperature.
