About Dr. Sharma
A native of New Delhi, India, Dr. Sharma received a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Delhi in 1957. He also earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. While working as a Senior Science Fellow at the National Physics Laboratory on microwave technology, he decided to seek a PhD. Although accepted by both Harvard and MIT, he chose to attend the University of Minnesota where he earned a master’s of science in Electrical Engineering and a PhD.
In 1970, he sold his first acoustic coupler and Multi-Tech Systems was launched. By 1978, sales reached over one million dollars.

The Raghu Sharma Scholarship Fund was established by his family as a memorial to Dr. Sharma who passed away in April 2007.

Scholarships will be awarded annually to two local high school students. Qualified recipients will be high school seniors (from pre-selected public high schools) who intend to go to an accredited four-year college to pursue a degree in technology or engineering.

Multi-Tech Announces 2010 Raghu Sharma Scholarship Awards

MINNEAPOLIS – JUNE 2010 – 2010 marks the third year that the Raghu Sharma Scholarship is offered. Established by his family and Multi-Tech as a memorial to Dr. Sharma who passed away in April 2007, two $1,500 scholarships are awarded annually.

Recipients of this year's Scholarship are Bryan Thell from Mahtomedi High School and Daniel Meinert from Blaine High School - CEMS (Center for Engineering, Mathematics and Science). Each received $1,500 toward their college education. Bryan Thell plans to study at the University of St. Thomas and Daniel Meinert will attend Duke University this fall. In June, both had an opportunity to get a tour of Multi-Tech and meet Pat Sharma, President & CEO, Matt Sharma, Executive Vice President and Del Palacheck Vice President of Manufacturing.

One of last year’s recipients, Amy Loomis, is interning in Multi-Tech’s engineering department this summer.
