Multi-Tech Announces Two New Universal Socket Connectivity Modules
Dateline: Feb 13, 2007
Multi-Tech announces two new Universal Socket Connectivity modules. The first is an 802.11b wireless networking embedded module for designers needing a fast and efficient means of adding Wi-Fi® connectivity to their applications. The new SocketWireless® Wi-Fi embedded module is a ready-to-integrate and space-efficient (1" x 2.5") device that is 802.11b compliant, integrates a complete TCP/IP protocol stack, and includes a selectable-speed serial interface. The other new module is a SocketEthernet IP®device server that provides a fast and efficient means for designers to add Ethernet connectivity to IP networks. The device server is highly integrated and runs an IP stack consisting of the most popular Internet applications allowing for a more cost-efficient product while still providing high quality and reliability.
"By making the new modules part of the Universal Socket Connectivity initiative, they add two more communications technology options developers have available within the same footprint," said Chip Harleman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech Systems. "Now, designers can smoothly migrate through technologies such as wired modem, Ethernet LAN, ISDN, cellular wireless, Bluetooth® and 802.11b, implementing the network technology more easily."
