Now Shipping the 24-Port MultiVOIP FX Voice over IP Gateway
Dateline: Sep 12, 2006
The new MultiVOIP Voice over IP gateway (Model MVPFXS-24) provides telephone and fax connectivity to the Internet or an intranet for up to 24 FXS (Foreign Exchange Station) devices. These devices can include analog phones, fax machines and key telephone system equipment. The MultiVOIP FX gateway is designed to connect devices, within a relatively small area such as a sales office, support office, or call center to an IP network. Calls can then be sent through the MultiVOIP gateway over the IP network to other VoIP equipped locations or possibly to a central control center for PSTN routing.
"We find that organizations ready to make the step towards using Voice over IP in connecting remote workers are faced with some potentially expensive choices, such as throwing out their existing analog phones and fax machines," states Chip Harleman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech Systems. "With the MultiVOIP gateway, existing phones and fax machines can keep on providing their services, while the company's IP network or the Internet provides savings associated with the new technology."
Announcing New SIP-Focused Voice over IP Gateways
Dateline: Jul 18, 2006
The MultiVOIP™ FX SIP gateway provides toll-free voice and fax communications over the Internet or Intranet. The gateways are available in two-, four-, and eight-port models, include features selected specifically for implementing SIP telephony, and are cost-effectively priced while still offering business-class quality and performance.
The MultiVOIP FX gateways connect to analog ports on telephony equipment using FXS or FXO interfaces, and connect to an IP network using a 10/100BaseT interface. In addition, they include an RS-232 command port, are controlled via web browser, and are flash upgradeable. The new models support SIP for sending and receiving voice over an IP network, T.38 real-time fax relaying for VoIP equipment interoperability, Voice Activity Detection for silence compression, and Comfort Noise Generation for a more natural speaking experience.
"In selecting the feature set for these new MultiVOIP models we targeted users deploying a SIP-centric network." states Chip Harleman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech Systems. "These features packaged into our standard cabinetry make for a rugged and feature rich product specifically designed for SIP networks requiring cost-effective solutions."
