Multi-Tech Announces Turnkey SMS Server Appliance
Designed for Broadcast SMS Applications in Business Environments
MINNEAPOLIS, OCTOBER 23, 2007 – Multi-Tech® Systems, Inc., a leading data communications and telecommunications technology company based in suburban Minneapolis announces the company’s turnkey SMS server appliance. The SMSFinder™ SMS server comes in a compact and self-contained chassis that can be desktop or wall mounted. Equipped with a quad-band GSM cellular modem and Ethernet® interface the new Multi-Tech product enables any PC on the connected network to broadcast SMS messages and is carrier-approved for use in most parts of the world.
"Before the SMSFinder, traditional broadcast SMS servers required using a PC, operating system, cellular hardware, and SMS server software," states Dan Nelson, Vice President of Sales North America for Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. "For most applications the traditional SMS server is an overly complicated product involving multiple companies with difficulty finding sources of problems. With the SMSFinder it is a simple process of connecting to the network, inserting a properly configured SIM card and configuring from a network-connected PC using a Web interface. At that point anyone on the network can broadcast messages. The SMSFinder allows organizations to reach clients, subscribers, members and prospects in real-time via SMS with mobile marketing campaigns, student and faculty weather delays and closings, urgent message confirmation, updates to clients, items of interest including time-critical enterprise data to employees, SMS reminder and alert system updates, plus customer helpdesk information."
The SMSFinder broadcast SMS server comes equipped with an internal GSM modem, one Ethernet LAN interface/connector, and power supply. After installing the server on an Ethernet network on one end and cellular network using a provisioned SIM on the other end, the unit can be configured from any network-attached PC using a web interface. Recipient names and phone numbers can be entered using a connected PC or incoming call. The address book can contain up to 20,000 entries with support for sorting, searching and group set-ups. Individual user accounts can have selected access rights and broadcast messages can be triggered via SMS using predefined groups and SMS text. Unit supports SMTP client and Syslog for logging and reporting.
